The Art Gallery
Here is a before and after of an art gallery with paintings on the walls. To get the end result (seen on the right) I took the original photo of the painting of the women, and cropped it. After making a few copies of it for the gallery, they were then distorted to cover the existing paintings on the walls.
Damaged Baseball Card
For this, not many changes had to be made to the original picture on the left. The edges of the card were cleaned up, as well as some of the lettering and detail in certain lines.
The Three Kids
The photo on the right in this case, is the before. It is pretty badly damaged as you can see by just glancing at it. To restore this disaster, the clone stamp was used very heavily over the house, the clothing, and the flower pots in the window sill. This was a very tedious task, however I am quite pleased with the end result.
Two Half Match
This exercise started off as you see it on the left. The challenge was to replicate what was seen on the right side of the photo, on the left. To do this, the blur, burn, and paintbrush tool were used on almost every aspect of this women's face. The final product of my work is shown on the right.
The Man and the Woman
This exercise was similar to the one involving the three kids on the steps. We had to restore the picture one the bottom half of the left side, as well as add color.
Celebrity Mash-Up
To complete this project, we chose two people and put their faces together to create a hybrid of the two. I chose my two personal favorite celebrities, Brendon Urie (left), and Gordon Ramsay (middle). Using the elliptical selection tool, as well as the move tool to crop Brendon's face, and bring it over onto Grodon's. In order for the faces to appear less different from each other, I went back with a super soft edged brush on low opacity on the edges of Brendon's face.
Extract the Subject
In most advertisements, the subject that is being sold up against a white background (man on the left). The objective was to select the man from the white, and place him into the background given (shown in the middle). To match the lighting, I added lighting effects so that the light source looks like it is on the left side of his body, oppose to the right.
Army Men
This was another color restoration project. To make it easy to undo mistakes, there are multiple layers for each color, like the wall, the faces, and the green uniforms.
Mirrored Alleyway
The photo on the left of a normal alley has a plain cobblestone road. To achieve the illusion that it was made of mirror panels, the image was copied, rotated and skewed to fit the street. In addition, a panel was removed from the others to reveal the cobblestone under, that panel was moved to the left of the image like it's leaning up against the wall.
The objective of this minor project, was to repair and restore these two pictures to match the ones on the right. To piece back the women in the top left corner, I selected each broken fragment and used the transform tool to move them to where they would fit. Her face was a little more difficult, I selected the non damaged part, copy, pasted, and flipped it to the right side. The problem with the man, was that the photo does not appear to be as sharp and clear as it needs to be. I decided to make the background one color, and then sharpened and burned different parts of him to match the right.
